World Got Game

Macro shot of a basketball created in CGI

DAZN Creative commissioned us to design the broadcast package for FIBA’s Basketball World Cup, China 2019. Light on story, big on glory – bold and glossy 3D renders were the order of the day. Taking influence from traditional China, we explored features of theatre and performance to elevate the drama of ‘World Got Game’.

Extending directly from the opener were the surrounding broadcast visuals including the break bumpers, stings and best plays. Leading with the 15” opening sequence, we built a grand space fitting the global scale of the tournament. With dynamic camera moves and a fast-paced edit we crafted a contemporary arena, filled with energy and anticipation.

The work was driven by the International Basketball Federation’s design language, colour palette, and dragon vector motif.
